The State of Louisiana has instituted a program to incentivize the energy retrofit of commercial buildings. This incentive is in the form of a rebate up to $5000 for those buildings that realize at least a 10% reduction in annual energy consumption. In many cases, this requirement can be obtained through lighting upgrades alone.
Buildings
- that are less than 10,000 ft2,
- have single-zone HVAC system(s) independently controlled that derive all of their heating and cooling from the same system(s),
- have no economizers, and
- do not have lighting regulated by Health or Life Safety Codes (e.g. hospitals, schools, doctor's offices, and restaurants)
